M762
Maximum 5.56 fury, zero forgiveness—win the fight or eat the recoil.
The M762 is a full-auto assault rifle in PUBG, classified alongside the M416 and other 5.56 mm ARs. It is the most aggressively damaging rifle in the 5.56 family, trading a punishing vertical recoil pattern for a raw damage-per-second ceiling that can erase a full health bar in a handful of well-placed bursts at close range.
In a typical lobby the M762 is the 'I want to win this fight and I don't care how ugly it looks' pick. It rewards players who commit to full-auto, control their spray, and keep engagements inside roughly 40 metres. Beyond that range the recoil climbs so steeply that the weapon becomes a liability, and most players fall back to semi-auto or switch to a more forgiving rifle.

Lore & Background
In the PUBG universe the M762 sits in the same supply-chain tier as the M416: a modern, gas-operated, magazine-fed assault rifle chambered in 5.56×45 mm NATO. Where the M416 was designed for balanced, controllable full-auto fire, the M762 leans harder into raw cyclic power. Its longer barrel and heavier bolt assembly give each round more muzzle energy, but the trade-off is a recoil impulse that climbs sharply the longer you hold the trigger.
Within the game's simulated military-survival setting, the M762 appears in standard weapon crates and on the ground in the same distribution pool as other assault rifles. It is not tied to any single faction or character; it is simply one of the rifles a player might find in a village, a military base, or an airdrop. Its presence in the arsenal reflects the broader trend of PUBG's weapon roster covering the full spectrum from controllable to chaotic, letting players choose how much risk they want to take for extra damage.
The M762's design philosophy in-game is straightforward: if you can keep the spray on target, nothing else in the 5.56 class hits harder at close range. If you can't, the weapon will climb out of your crosshair within two or three seconds of sustained fire, and the fight is lost.
In Their Own Story
The mud on the north face of the building was still wet from the morning rain. Kael crouched behind a concrete block, his thumb already on the magazine release. Across the courtyard, thirty metres of open ground, a second player was pushing the flank with an M416 in two-hand grip, steady and methodical.
Kael didn't have the luxury of methodical. He had the M762, a 30-round magazine, and a vertical recoil pattern that wanted to paint the sky. He exhaled, pressed the crosshair into the enemy's chest, and let go.
The first three rounds punched through the vest. The barrel kicked up, then up again, and he fought it with his wrist, dragging the spray back down onto the torso. Two more rounds. The player on the other side of the courtyard dropped, and the M762's muzzle flashed one last time against the grey morning light before Kael rolled the mag and reloaded, his hands still shaking.
Reader's Guide
So the M762. You pick it up and you know exactly what you're signing up for. Full-auto, 5.56, and the damage per bullet is the highest you'll get in that cal. At 20 metres a full mag can go through two players if you're hitting center mass. That's the whole pitch: it wins close fights that the M416 just grinds through.
But the recoil. Oh, the recoil. The first second of spray is manageable. Second second, the barrel is already climbing. By the third second you're shooting the clouds. You have to treat every burst like a controlled fire—three to five rounds, check, re-aim, three to five rounds. If you just hold the trigger and hope, you will lose to a Kar98k at 80 metres because your spray is in the stratosphere.
In a loadout I run it as my primary and pair it with a Kar98k or M24 for the long stuff. The M762 owns 0 to 40 metres. Past that I'm not touching it. Attachments matter a lot here: a compensator or vertical grip tames the vertical climb, a 3× or 4× scope lets you see the spray pattern so you can correct, and the extended mag is basically mandatory because 30 rounds go fast when you're full-auto.
The feel is aggressive. It's the weapon you grab when you want to be the one pushing, not the one hiding. If you're comfortable with recoil control it's the most satisfying AR in the game at close range. If you're not, it's a 30-round shotgun with a scope.
Did You Know?
- The M762 has the highest damage-per-bullet of any 5.56 mm assault rifle in PUBG, making it the most lethal AR at very close range when accuracy is maintained.
- Its recoil pattern is predominantly vertical, meaning the spray climbs upward rather than drifting sideways, which makes it more forgiving for players who practice pulling down.
- The M762 shares the same 5.56×45 mm ammunition as the M416, AKM, and SCAR-L, so a player can swap between any of these rifles without changing their ammo pool.
- Because it is full-auto only (no semi-auto mode), every shot is part of a burst, making recoil management the single most important skill for using it effectively.
